Larry Thompson Jr is the undisputed fried shrimp po boy king of New Orleans. Now he is also the undisputed king of the seafood boil.

Mr. Shrimp is a bad man.

In local parlance you might even declare ‘he ain’t nothin’ nice when he’s getting busy in a kitchen.’

On Friday afternoon, Pepsi’s inaugural Super Bowl Boil at Woldenberg Park saw Chef Thompson win out in a mano a mano boil battle with Terrytown, Louisiana’s Crawlins Seafood.

We saw Mr. Larry’s victory coming a mile away. If you’ve ever eaten at his Mr. Shrimp cafe inside the food court at the Riverwalk you know this man ranks as one of the best cooks in southeast Louisiana.

We love running down to Larry’s little joint on Sunday when street parking is free. Take your lunch onto the terrace at the mall and watch the steamships roll by while you eat some of the best Creole food in New Orleans.
